I offer individual and group tutoring for the following subjects:

Mathematics

BC Grades 9 to 12, including foundations of mathematics, pre-calculus, calculus, and history of mathematics.
IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretations. Foundation and Higher Levels.
Competitions: University of Waterloo Mathematics Challenge (Pascal, Caley, Fermat, CIMC, CSMC), Kangaroo Challenge etc.
University courses: linear algebra, abstract algebra, calculus, and mathematical logic.

Philosophy

BC Grades 11 - 12.
University courses: critical thinking, logic, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language, philosophy of mathematics, phenomenology.

My current hourly rates are as follows:

Initial meeting for assessing the student's needs: $70

AP Course: $130 +

Tutoring Format

I meet with my students in public areas (e.g. Public Library) to ensure the safety of both myself and the student.

In the first meeting, I will discuss with the student what they are looking for in tutoring and their previous tutoring experience. Every student will have a Shared Google Drive, where you will find:

a tutoring plan for the term
additional resources
anything the student would like to share.

Over the first few sessions, I identify the student's strengths. With this knowledge, I offer conceptual and methodological explanations for mathematics in a way that is accessible to the individual student. For example, some students are visual learners, so they prefer algebraic concepts explained visually. Some students prefer to reason and connect between new concepts. Some students feel motivated by the historical and conceptual origin of mathematics.

There are so many different sides to mathematics. Every student is unique and I guide them to find their interest in mathematics.
